Locally I only have a choice or two in shops that will do amp work. Both are expensive and tend to sit your kit in a room for a while before they get to it. So I am wondering, do I dare (as a total amateur) replace tubes myself? I have a Blues Deluxe and apparently one of the tubes is causing me my problems with static and a weird noise at certain frequencies.

If I just order an identical replacement, is it something I can just pull and replace?

It depends. If it's a pre amp tube you sure can. If it's a power tube (the big tubes) you'll have to buy a matched pair and check the bias.

best to have a pro replace power tubes, for your safety, as well as proper setting of tube operation and extended life of tubes.
