In your opinion, what years were the best RCA 6L6GC Black Plate tube made and what kind of labeling should I look for on the tube?

I don't recall any years being better than others. Tubes in general back then were really robust. They were used in everything from TV's and radios to tanks.

Man, I wish I had enough to give you a comparison, but I only have two. One out of my'67 Band Master and one out of a customer's '65 Band Master. Amazingly enough they are within 3ma of each other, but one is a little noisy. They still kick out that multi-demensional sound though. You might want to give Gregg Levy a call at http://hitestguitars.com/ I see he has some on sale. Art
