Has anybody ever seen a circa Early 70's "Balboa" amplifier? I don't think it was made by Fender but there may have been a relationship. This was a solid state amp. Thanks for any help, I'm looking for information.

I'm an old guy and don't remember Balboa amplifiers. I do kind of remember JBL having a Balboa Speaker System. I think it was rated around 150 watts.

Mr 63supro,
Thank you for responding. Back in 1972 or 73 I bought an amp-head that kind of looked like a Fender but the brand was Balboa. It looked like a "killer amp" for time. But it did not work. I spent a good bit of money having it repaird back then and as it still did not put out any power I let the technician keep it for the cost of the repair bill. Now that I'm older and know a good bit about electronics maybe it was only a pre-amp with the power stage built into the speaker cabinet. That would explain it not putting out much power. Anyway, as time has gone by I would like to get some info on what it was. It might have been made by the Ecor company.
Thanks and any help would be welcome.

Sounds interesting. Are you located in the US?

Apparently from what I just read Bob Bogle "from the Ventures" was part owner in Encor. The article I read stated he was on his way to pick up the commission on $100,000 sales of Encor amps when he was told the company was bankrupt. I guess this was early 70's. From the article
Walk-Don't Run - The Story of the Ventures By Del Halterman.

Well that's all I know and I'm not even sure if the Balboa was a modle by Encor or Balboa was the brand. But it did exist. It's one of those things you would like to know from your child hood. Like buying a Super Reverb at 50 years old just cause you had one at 15 years old. Cheers

S.C., So you're from the States so that rules out only being made in Europe.
It's a shame, and I know what you mean about something from your childhood. I still have my first electric ans acoustic from 1963!

It's also a shame Bob Bogle passed away in June last year. I would have tried to contact him. I can't find a thing on that amp.
