I live in a small town on a musicians income so a good guitar amp was going to be hard to come up with as whatever goes for sale here is always way overpriced (Except the SUNN Solarus head I got lucky for $50) So I married a Fender Pro Jr. amp chassis into a Cut down sized 70's Fender Bassman 2X12 cab. It's still a 2X12 but square sized now and diagonal placed speakers.. see picture. It is a totally excellent sounding amp and has lotsa bass balls too. The cabinet has been opened up on the back so its not closed still as it was stock. Side handles completed the transformation. The speakers were free Marslands (Traynor) I scrounged from a PA cab. ALL my musician friends agree its great. Maybe I got lucky with dimensions and speakers but It might be worth a try to those wishing to up size a amp. I even sold the original Pro Jr cabinet/speaker for $80

Don't let anyone BS you that 15 watt of tube power is not enough. It most often is in all the dozens of live settings including outdoors with PA support that I have played since building the amp. Never got it above 4 out of 12 on the dial.

The Fender cab was already square when I got it with a 15" faceplate. I wouldn't have cut one up myself....sacrilegious

Hi Music fox - maybe it's me but I can't see any pictures. Sounds great so anxious to see the results.

It's a great sounding 15 watts...and the volume and tone goes to 12. 8)

If I need to go over 7, I mic it.

I have often thought about doing a similar project but going about it in a completely different way. My idea is to make my Blues Junior into a head only amp and use a big closed back 212 cabinet.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
