A guy I selling this amp and is interested in trading for my DSL100. There are some mods that have been done to his amp and are described by him as:

- Power tube bias mod direcly underneath chasis
- XLR output mod directly wired to a Master Volume mod

The trade seems like a good deal if it won't cost an arm and a leg to remove the mods (assuming I don't like/want them of course) because I'd probably want to return it to stock.

Anybody know what kind of tech bill I'd be looking at? Even a ballpark figure would be great as I really don't have much knowledge in this area.

Thanks!

Hi there Led Zep, I'd guess $40-$80, about an hour or so bench time. If you want a routine maintenance service also, that number would go up some. I imagine the bias mod is the addition of external test points or possibly a balance control. The tech will be able to advise you about whether that mod is worth leaving on the amp. As far as a master volume and line out, if done well, that's your call. Art

Thanks for the reply.

If the trade goes through, I really hope that would be the cost to remove the mods. I'd really like to remove the master volume, especially since it was installed right over where it says "Deluxe Reverb". I'd have to buy a new faceplate, but I'm not too concerned about that.

Here are some pictures of the amp. Maybe they will shine more light into what I could be faced with if we make the trade:

Shouldn't be that bad. You may want to get an estimate for blackfacing the amp at the same time, which is also not that expensive.

Led Zep, all the components on the board seem to be stock, the master volume should be easily removed, can't tell anything about the line out, can't see what was changed on the bias circuit. If the filter caps are original also, you'll probably want them replaced. If the amp sounds good to your ears, then all should be well. Art
