I got this amp from my uncle when he passed away and I'm looking to sell it but I have no idea what a good asking price would be. It's in good condition.

If you had clicked on the link, you'd see that is the amp, along with all of the information about the Red Knob Twin.

Rivera had nothing at all to do with the development of the Fender Red Knob amps. These were all the work of Dan Smith and Company before CBS sold the company to them and were introduced subsequently after the sale.

Personally, I think anyone with a Red Knob amp should really hold on it. They are some of the last amplifiers Fender made completely in the U.S. and are the earliest predecessors of the vintage-appointed solid state Fender amps sold today. They're only going to increase in value over the next few years.

Not only that, but the clean channel of my Stage 185 is pretty damn supreme. This seems to be the case with every Red Knob amp I've checked out (an Eighty-Five and another Stage 185). They also agree with any pedal you can plug into 'em. Not only that, but my Stage 185 is good for 150 watts; it actually replaced an old MG half-stack I had and has just as much power. Like that MG, I can't even turn this amp up to 3 in my room without having my ear-drums blown out. You can't get that kind of power in such a compact package anymore without spending big bucks.

Thank you for the info on DanSmith and the red knob!
The stage series are good awsome powerfful clean
Over drive is a BIT heavey so yeah I would use a pedal
BUT NOTHING beats those 2-12's moving air!

You're welcome. 8)

After I picked my Stage 185 up for $200 bucks, I spent some time tracking down the history of these amps.

Fender really want to reverse the negative stigma attached to their instruments and amps after the downturn in quality during the late '70s and very early '80s. They really packed quite a lot of technology, blood, sweat, and tears into the Red Knob amps.

Also, on another interesting note, I know my Stage has a very early form of solid state tube-to-speaker emulation (think about a Dyna-Touch amp or the FDD switch on a MG head, only actually a hell of a lot better; it's not like an actual tube amp, no, but it will manage to pick up a lot of nuances in a person's playing style).

I don't much care for the Overdrive and Boost channels on my Stage unless I want to overlay a lot of distortion on my tone and go for a Kevin Sheilds kind of thing. That's when it's the most useful. Other than that, I plug a DS-1 into the amp and go from there (hopefully, I'll have a RAT or maybe a Tube-Screamer soon and keep the DS-1 for the purpose I use my amps OD/Boost channels for).
