Hi,
I'm replacing capacitors in an 1969 Fender Vibrolux twin. There are two types of non-electrolytics: blue lumpy ones and brown disc ones. What modern equivalent types should I use (polyester mica etc). I have the drawings but most of the values just say eg .1 Are these micro or pica farad values?

Also what is the the component that looks like a matt black plastic tube with a lump in the middle and two wires at each end about one and a half inches long?

I'm trying to cure a persisent loud hum apparently from the main amp part of the circuit and intermittent "fried bacon" breaking up of the sound. The clear highs and lows have disappeared from the tone and there is loss of power. I have already checked out the tubes and replaced all the electrolytics

best wishes Ed

Microfarads.

If the blue caps are the ones that say "Molded" on them don't change them unless you absolutely have to.
They're good caps (unless they've gone bad for some reason).

That matt plastic tube is the Optocoupler, aka Vibrato LDR aka roach for the vibrato. There's a lightbulb and a light sensitive resistor in there.
