I'd run it through the effects loop and plug your guitar directly into the amp. You can try it that way and in front, but my experience has always been that using the effects loop (and that amp DOES have one) is the best way to use any effects devices.

The effects loop is best used with modulation devices, echo, reverb etc.
Distortion, overdrive, fuzz and wah pedals are a lot more effective in the guitar input driving the power section of the amp. That's why I really don't like multi effect pedals. Check the effect owners manual and see what it suggests.

Yeah , thru the effects loop.I have never had great luck with them either.Never could dial in my tone.Single pedals seem to give you the best flexibility.Easier to build your personal tones with.

This is why I'm waiting to hear what he has. I'm guessing it's a combo distortion/effects box, which is why I recommended between guitar and amp. Hopefully he'll respond back.

I have the same question, mine is a Line6 POD x3 live. I tried plugging it directly into the power amp in and it sounds perfect. Am I messing up my amp (HRD)?
In other words: Guitar>POD> HRD PowerAmp In.

Now, I do understand I am bypassing the poweramp tubes and the volume and master are also bypassed therefore loosing that power kick. Only the Reverb and the Presence work. Are the power amp tubes working then? and At what capacity?

Sorry for all the questions, anyone... anyone
