I acquired this '69 Bandmaster Reverb in a trade yesterday. I've wanted a vintage Bandmaster for awhile. I wanted a blackface, but this one is awesome. I never thought that I would ever own a silverface amp (or any CBS Fenders) because of the negative things some people say about them. However, I played this one and it sounded great. It has a very sweet reverb, tremolo, tube rectifier, etc. It even has the original matching cab (huge for a 212).

Anyone have any info (or point me in the right direction) on how many were produced for the year? Any other interesting info?

Congrats on a sweet score! Dripedge, reverb very cool.

There is nothing wrong with Silverface Amps. I have a 76SF Twin that's been awesome for the past 30 years. I also had a SF Bandmaster around 73-74 that I regret ever selling. It was an awesome amp. Enjoy it.

You might want to check if it's ever been recapped. If not it's a bit over due.

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks!

It has been re-capped, completely looked over by a tech.

Very cool. Mine didn't have reverb. I did use to run a Univox EC80 echo with it. Later on I found out Eddie Van Halen use to run the same echo LOL.

That Bandmaster I had was a great amp. You can't beat that huge cabinet. If you can, go try a new Bandmaster VM and you see why I call it vintage molested. :D

Again, good luck with it.

Yeah very neat amp, are those Altec Lansing speakers? The TFL5005 is a well built amp and the addition of the middle control and reverb makes it a real sleeper. It seems that the Band Master was always in the shadow of the more popular models, kind of like the Concert and the Harvard. But yeah, they're great amps! I've had my '67 for more than 20yrs. ART

Thanks.

Not sure about the speakers...There's a lot of screws back there, and don't have a screw gun until the weekend.

I'm really liking the sound that I get out of this amp with my Tele.
My Strats seem to sound better through my Super Reverb Reissue.

Congrats. I sorely miss my 65 blackface bandmaster. Bought it for $100.00 in 1977 with a univox 2x12 cab. stopped playin' in 1984 after my garage band broke up, but started playin' again in 2006 and will never stop playin' again. I play in a Blues band and a classic rock band. I get compliments on my tone all the time, thanks to my 74 twin reverb and 74 pro reverb. People seem to listen to my tone more than my guitar skills which hopefully will improve to. I love those silverfaced amps.

very cool amp. Don't listen to those that don't like the silverface amps. They're all Fender and all awesome

Nothing wrong with the silverfaces. Not as collectible and certainly affordable.I am looking to replace my ssr with a silverface deluxe reverb some day.

Very cool! Congratulations on a great find - looks to be in very good shape.

You may find that the bright switches sound better down - otherwise it can get pretty trebly for an audience.

When I retubed my bandmaster, I used JJ's all around; I just swapped a NOS JAN Philips 12AX7WA for the Vibrato Channel, and what a difference. Worth a few extra dollars for amazing tone. Much less harsh.
