Hey, I have a Bassman AB165 50 watt (says 175 watt max consumption). How should this be matched to a speaker. Oh yeah I want to play a telecaster through the head. Any thoughts?

That amp needs a 4ohm cab.Hope this helps. The one I have is the AA165. I love it. Hope you enjoy yours. 8) Mike

Yeah, a 4ohm speaker cab rated at 50watts or 100watts. That amp has plenty of push. I use a 50watt and a 40watt speaker pair in a custom combo cab for my modded AB165. My Tele with a P90 in the neck position, is a very nice match. 175watts from the wall outlet is what it takes for the amp to produce 50watts to the speakers. Cherokee usually takes care of this advise: You will have to get a 3 prong power cable installed!!! Okay? ART

Great amp; couple of things:

Get the 3 prong power cord/death cap conversion ASAP to be safe.

Change out the filter capacitors - they're way past due.

Both changes will be barely noticable cosmetically, are reversible if there are people that really want it period correct, but will make it a safe amp to play without risk of electrocution.
