My Silverface (with black aesthetics) Pro Reverb has been dead and in storage for a while now but I decided to pull it out and start researching on getting it fixed. It has numerous issues, including bad speakers and speaker wiring, but of concern to me is the lack of a rectifier. I found a schematic on a site called ampmedia which indicates that it should have a 5U4GB to the left of the two 6L6's but that space is blank. So I looked for something that could be a solid state rectifier but I found nothing like that either. Is anybody familiar with these type of amps? Any help on this topic would be appreciated.

Also, any suggestion on replacement speakers would be great. Than

Hi there Daflores, the schematics show that your amp has a bridge rectifier(4 diodes & 4 capacitors). If you look at the power transformer, follow two red wires to a circuit board or tag board(I have not worked on this particular amp, so don't know the appearance), there you'll find the rectifier component, probably square or rectangular. This is before minature components were used, so it should easy to spot. This is a 70 watt amp, so some changes in the power supply must have been needed to bump it up from 45watts. Found the schematics at www.webervst.com/amps1schematics.htm When you're ready to fire up this amp, I'd consider bringing it up slowly on a variac or current limiter. Good Luck ! ART PS There is no space between the c and s , in the "schematics.htm" don't know why it keeps comming up that way.

Make sure that you get the speakers and wiring sorted out; you will wreck your amp if you play it without the proper speaker loading going on.

Weber makes some great replacement speakers at various budget levels; Scumback speakers are starting to get very popular. I would avoid the reissue Jensens. Good luck.
