So I think I may have just made a mistake and bought a Vibro Champ instead of a regular champ. The serial number on the back of the chassis is A818970 and on the spec sheet on the inside of the amps "Vibro Champ" and a half torn code of "AA764" is written next to it. It states the tubes are 2 12AX7's, a 6v6, and a 5Y3. I could only find 1 website that stated the model year base on the chassis serial number was a 1978 and that the tube configuration was indicative of a Vibro Champ. What I can't seem to figure out is why the front of the amp doesn't have the additional knobs like most of the Vibro Champs do. It also seems to be missing the fender logo on the front.

And lastly one of the 12AX7's has a metal housing around. I can't seem to figure out how to get it off and secondly it vibrating like crazy when any sort of bass goes through the amp.

Please help me even if it's only bad news.

You've got a 1976 Champ. Fender simply used the wrong tube chart.A Vibro Champ has a vibrato channel that your's obviously lacks. Hope this helps. 8) Mike

Either the wrong tube chart was installed at the factory or the cabinet was swapped. Either way the Champ is a winner in my book!!

Most likely swapped. Seen these things happen before.
