According to the book "THE SOUL OF TONE 60 YEARS OF FENDER AMPS", it was re-issued appeared in the 93-94 catalogs though few were sold in 95 and were most likely left over 94's

IF ya get a shot to look at the book it's on pages 370.

It was also a CUSTOM SHOP RE-ISSUE...on the same page they also say it was SOON TO BE DISCONTINUED

I am LUCKY enough to have an original 64...WHAT AN AMP !!!!!

That book has a bit of info on them but since they were only around for a few years and then such beauties as the DELUXE REVERB and PRINCETON REVERB came out it basically obsoleted itself.
IMHO one of FENDER"S BEST....I recently saw an original FOR SALE at a AMP show in NYC for 9500.00 MINT !!!!

Hang onto that re-issue it too will become very desirable soon unless they re-issue them again

St James...enjoy

James,

Thanks so much for the info.i will check the book out.It seems I have everything original, except the tubes,,including the Oxford speakers, which seem to be getting a bad rap. They sound good to me tho.Lucky you on an original indeed.

Your welcome ROBBIE....

If ya check out VINTAGE GUITAR MAGAZINE or go to

www.alesandroproducts.com or n www.allenamps.com

or www.eurotubes.com...www.mojotone.com I am sure someone there can tell you what tubes were in the originals and you can get them NOS from any dealers I see in Vintage guitar magazine....

That should give it more TRUE TONE of the original.

Though the CUSTOM SHOP FENDER amp I recently picked up says though they say GROOVE TUBES on em on the bottom they say SOVTEK.

Though I am sure that's NOT what was in your amp ORIGINALLY but what ya need to find is can it take the original tubes or did they change the circuitry somewhere.

That FENDER CUSTOMER SERVICE should be able to answer for ya....as long as ya have the serial number.

Hope that works for ya......I can always look again in the book to see if it mentions what tubes were in it..mine has 75% original tubes so that;s no help.
Ya need FENDER to lt ya know if ya can even change em to what was in there originally in 64.

They are very help full, if ya get someone who blows ya off wait a few and call back like any job ya got people who care and those who don;t.

TUBES will certainly change your tone so will the tranny and caps !!!!

GOOD LUCK

63' Vibroverb Reissues were made from 1990 to 1995 Part#021-7200-000 an original Vibroverb can go for as much as 4G's in + shape I could not see any more then that.

CIV...Check into the ONE MAGAZINE that does NOT use GRUHN or EBAY as a PRICE checker.....VINTAGE GUITAR MAGAZINE.

ANY and all questions about FENDER AMPS are in that book THE SOUL OF TONE 60 YEARS OF FENDER AMPS....hence where I got the re-issue dates.

It explains they were sold up till they were OUT OF STOCK so up till 95 sounds right to me since they were still being produced in 94 and appeared in the ONLY the 93-94 catalogs.

Lots of things are no longer in catalogs but still available....

Blues deluxe's and deville's were discontinued a few years back yet ya still seem em for sale NEW...I guess new to them is UNSOLD....

Thanks for your piece of info......I like FACTS !!!!!! Take the guessing out !!

DOesn't matter whose wrong or right just as long as the answer given to those who request it get the info PRINTED not what we hear in conversation.

CHeers
St James

AN original from top to bottom is in there right now for 9700.00 !!!!!

Remember these were really only made for 2-3 years...and were ALSO FENDER's FIRST COMBO WITH REVERB.....

AMPEG and a few others had COMBOS" with reverb in em but FENDER used the stand alone reverb unit till 64

It depends on which 63' Vibroverb you are talking about as to the value they made two of them in 1963 a Blackface and Brownface. The Brownface is the one with the higher value sold in 63 and not as many made the Blackface was sold in 63' and 64' and has a single 15'speaaker they were both sold under the name Vibroverb and the only difference was the speakers. Doing 63' they stoped making Browns and went to the Blackfaces
Now the reissue was sold from 90' to 95 and was a reissue was of the Brownface with the two 10' speakers. I am getting that from there catalog.

Great info!!!All I know is that I love the tone I'm getting at the moment.I'm sure it might be better, but I think I'll stay with the original Oxfords for the time being.I did order a cover two toned from Custom Amp Covers in Michigan Wheat/Brown.

It would have been nice if they had used a 5U4 rectifier in the reissues though!

The original Oxford-style speakers weren't bad, they just went flabby fairly quick...they also seemed a bit delicate (blew easily). If you're satisfied with them, keep on truckin'.

Mine blew after about 6 years (I think--it's been a long time and I was drinking at the time!), but prior to that I was satisfied with the tone, overall. When I put the Eminences in their place I realized how much bottom end I was losing and how "floppy" the bottom end was with the stock speakers. There's much more articulation and kick to the replacements.

A guy at Charley's Guitar Shop in Dallas (one of the few remaining reasons to go to Dallas!) does great repairs/restorations, and he suggested Kendrick Blackframe speakers for any 10" speaker replacements in a vintage or vintage-style Fender amp.

No offense to the 64 Custom Shop (blackface) Vibroverb, but I love the tone and mojo of my '63RI much better. It seems that Fender didn't push or advertise these amps when they came out, because very few people seem to know much about them. They were a well-made, affordable reissue that has great, great tone!

I personally think that Fender ought to go back and re-issue a couple of the Brownface Fender amps (the Super, Princeton and Twin all readily come to mind). The little sonic tweaks of the Brownface circuitry (as opposed to the better-know Blackfaces) add some really funky tones--and they look cool, too! As for the fact that the Vibroverb was the only one with on-board reverb, there's a myriad of ways to get around that, from reverb pedals to stand-alone reverb units (which at one time Fender manufactured a re-issue of those, too!)

..eventually I think our '63 reissues (even with the solid state rectifier that so many people lament) will be quite collectible. I saved the original speakers (I'll eventually get them re-coned) just for that reason.

For more information regarding all the Vibroverb (the original 1963 & 1964, as well as the reissues), look up the http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vibroverb article in Wikipedia.

They guy who wrote it is brilliant :P and it gives a great overview of the history of the amplifier.

Still hanging with the Eminences--overall I'm really happy with them, but one of these days, I will check out the Kendricks.

I have heard the Blackframes in a 65RI Super Reverb--very impressive. Punchy, articulate and vintage sounding; great bottom end (and who doesn't like a great bottom :D) and seem to be a great choice.

I haven't heard them in a Vibroverb, though...
