Funny I thought this was the Fender forum.

Someone here really seems bent on putting down what is a very nice amp.

and compared to a kit ??? really !!!

Sounds like someone needs to find himself an amp builders forum and laugh at all of us foolish beggers buying ready made tone machines.

The 57 RI Champ is sweet and hand made goodness, if you don't like fender amps why are you here ?????

Yep a kit really. The components many of the kits are usually as good or even better than the production reissues. Fender is seriously gouging with the price of this Champ amp. Most amp reviewers consider the 57 Champ, 57 Deluxe and the Princeton expensive for what it is. They price the decent amps way out of the price range of many musicians.

I know many professional musicians that chuckle at the price of these things. They price them into boutique territory, hype them up really well, and wait for people to buy them. You can buy an original 57 Champ for the same or less money. Yeah it is the Fender forum, but there are other choices in guitars and amps

Not everyone who owns a Fender has a Fender amp and vise versa. Many players that use Strats use Marshall amps. It would be boring to read nothing but glowing comments about Fender products. Truth is, they have problems with quality just like everybody else. I appreciate it someone says they have a problem with this amp or that guitar. Especially if I'm going to buy one. I wish I got a heads up on the HRDlx before I bought it.

The reason I'm here is because I have been using Fender equipment since 1964. Much of the new Fender equipment that I'm interested in is seriously disappointing in quality or overpriced. If you want a forum where everything is roses, start your own and censor all the negative comments you find about Fender gear.

Agree with everything you said in your last post 63, couldn't have put it better myself, the way i see it no-one's really putting down the new Champ re-issue but what we are putting down is the price they want us to pay for it.

Remember this is an amp with very limited application and to be priced up in boutique territory is ridiculous.

I wanted one initially but when i enquired about the price from Fender uk i quickly went off the idea, nearly £800 for this amp, if i wanted i could buy a 50w Marshall with channel switching for that price, an amp you could use in a wide variety of settings.

I'd like to know who comes up with Fenders prices, it seems that labelling something a Re-issue of a vintage amp gives the makers carte-blanche to bang the price way up.

I use a Fender Clapton model strat and wanted this Fender amp but not at this price, i bought the Vox AC4 and am more than happy with it

Thanks pliers.
I saw the Vox AC4 it's a really sweet amp. If I didn't already have a 74 SF Champ, that I paid $150 for by the way, I would have jumped all over that. It's a great amp at a great price. I just bought the Egnater Rebel 20 a few weeks ago too. Another fine amp.

It's usually people who don't think outside the Fender box that get their panties in a bunch whenever someone says something negative about Fender. My HRDlx was a dog. I wish I had someone warn me about its flaws BEFORE I bought it. The problem is Fenders lower end amps wind up as landfill way before the reissues and it shouldn't be. MyChamp is 34 years old and still works fine.

Yes Fender IS capable of screwing up. Don't take it personal and when something goes wrong SPEAK UP for crying out loud.

pliers, congrats and enjoy that new amp! I wish you many years of trouble free service!

That's right Esquire and that's the tragedy of the situation nowadays, instead of offering the amp at a realistic fair price they've totally gone off their heads and charged the earth for a practice amp, when i heard the price they wanted for this amp i literally couldn't believe it, at the end of the day i could afford it but that's not the point, i detest this mentality today whereby they build a copy of an original guitar or amp and because it's based on a vintage design that somehow gives them the right to hike the price way up in the stratosphere.

Originally these amps were probably not that expensive but today they're all out to get their snouts in the trough for as much as they can get.

It's an unfortunate attitude and one that ultimately alienates the people buying or thinking of buying their products.

Fender loses out on this one as most people will look at the price and then look elsewhere for an amp at a more affordable and fair price.

Just like the custom shop guitars. 4000 bucks for a telecaster I think not.Leo fender would rollover in his grave to see the prices fender is getting for their guitars.Back in the day there never was a custom shop . Leo tried to make them affordable for everyone to purchase. With the economy headed south how can any musician even afford one?I imagine there are going to be alot of Fenders that are'nt going to sell. Don't know how the dealers can afford to let this stuff sit around.

I don't know, alainlafrance says a grand is just peanuts. As long as you have people like him, I guess they'll sell them. I'm not a kid and I have money in the bank and we own our our home, but I work too hard for my money to toss it away on an overpriced amp like that that will never appreciate in value when I can get an original for the same or less and have a piece of Fender history. It's really nothing more than a clone when you think about it.

Its because it has the "custom shop" label on it.I dont really agree with the price either.I looked at the 57 deluxe a while back , but it was over 1500 dollars (more like 1800 i think).I appreciate that its hand wired , but its too pricey.I wish they had just reissued it like the 59 bassman and used some good pcb boards and mass produced it.The "vintage reissue" amps are pretty good amps, both in build and sound.

It reminds me of a lot of companies when they do this, remember Gibson when they brought out the 59 re-issue Les Paul? it was ridiculously overpriced as well for what was in essence a Les Paul standard but because they put 1959 re-issue in front of it that gave them the idea to bang the price way up, if you're prepared to pay the money they want and you have it to spare then it's down to the individual to decide if they want to buy, for me i just feel as if i'm getting conned forking out that kind of money for an overhyped product, it's not just Fender who do this the vast majority of them do if they see a killing to be made, best thing would be if everyone refused to cave in to them and that would force them to sell at realistic and fair prices.in my case Fender lost out because i bought the Vox AC4 which is brilliant.
