Hi guys. So i have this vintage bassman 50 that was modded to be 100 watts (i did not do the mod). The tube chart is a little tattered in the area that you would normally find the date of an amp like this. I was told that you can tell the date by the number on the transformer though. Is that correct? and if so how do i do that. Your help would be greatly appreciated

A good place to start is the Fender Field Guide. There is a lot of excellent information on the website. They also have individual pages on each type of amp, including The Bassman. According to the Field Guide, the 50 was produced from 1972-76.

Another method is to look for dates on components - in particular the transformer. The Fender website provides some of that information

Hope that helps
