I'm using the new Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Blue unit with my 70's Bandmaster Reverb. Sounded great at band practice this past week-end.

I use a 1969 TS 808 but I recently picked up a VISUAL SOUNDS JEKYL AND HYDE both that and there H20 CHORUS AND DELAY pedal is great as well.

A GREAT pedal I love are the following TWO

1///// VOODOO LABS SPARKLE DRIVE a MORE adjustabel OD

2...THE SWOLLEN PICKLE....though it is advertised as a FUZZ pedal it's also works well for OD but if ya get the right size amp and LOWER your WATTAGE like say down to NO HIGHER than 30 watts you can get the BEST overdrive by saturating your tubes !!!!!

I haven;t even used my SUPER REVERB in YEARS...usually it the DELUXE REVERB or my PRINCETON....and sometimes for recording my blackface VIBRO CHAMP.
AMAZING how great those amps are in the studio.

I have just about every BLACKFACE amp and a few 50's twins worth having..I recently finally picked up a 64 VIBROVERB.....$$$$$$$ WOW but worth it....ya just can;t put a price on TONE !!!

NOTHING IS THE WORLD BETTER THAN A FENDER BLACKFACE AMP...NOTHING !!!!!!!

Of course, the Ibanez TS9 TubeScreamer will always have a place in my heart (and on my pedalboard!)...I'm also a fan of the Danelectro Daddy-O; a lot of tonal flexibility with those three tone knobs.

For more of a dirty-distortion sound, I use the MXR Classic Distortion, which is just a repackaged MXR Distortion III.

For fuzz, I have a Dunlop Jimi Hendrix JH2S Classic Fuzz; they're no longer in production, but they have a really cool tone and they stay articulate even when you play a chord.

For clean boost that can push you into a little bit of overdrive, the MXR Micro Amp is funkiliciously great.

What ever of the stompboxes that I am currently punching, they're all going into a '63 Reissue Vibroverb...love that amp!

Funny you mention the Swollen Pickle. I've got a Pork Loin that I use with my Pro Junior and HRDX. Way Huge makes awesome, awesome pedals. Have you ever screwed around with the interior trim pots?

Hey I use a Dano Fab Tone alot but it`s a bit too heavy for many lighter affair things.I was very interested in the Daddy-O for overdrive tones.

Would you mind giving me a quick run down on the range of overdrive?

It can go from a clean boost (Volume set High, Drive set Low) to out-and-out nasty (Drive all the way up, volume set wherever you want it); as far as HOW nasty, it gets dirtier than a Tubescreamer but not quite as heavy as the Fab Tone...if you can find one, try to get the manual; it has some pretty good suggested settings.

If you are a CTT (Certified Tone Tweaker) like me, it has a myriad of tones at your fingertips.

Screamin' Armadillo,Thank you for responding, I think I am going to get one.
I have a Bad Monkey I bough in a pinch and it`s not too bad haha.I needed something just a bit more aggressive though.Sounds like it will fit the bill.
thanks Rob

update, I just scored one on ebay.
Next I am going to build my own Fuzz or Octave Fuzz pedal from a BYOC kit.

A fuzz face for, well fuzz. This is my favourite pedal because to me its the most versatile fuzz pedal.
• If you have your volume on 10 on your guitar its the most extreme, creamy sounding pedal you can get.
• If you lower the volume to even nine on your guitar, it changes to a more 'default' sounding pedal.
• If you put it to to about 5 - 7 on your guitar, you get a light distorted tone and thats good for whatever you'd use light distorted tones for.

I'm not sure if you wanted overdrive only, but overdrive-distortion, potato-tomato. :D

EDIT If you do only want an overdrive, an Ibanez Tube Screamer. TS-808 is more expensive, and TS-9 is less expensive. Lots say the 808 doesn't have enough 'umph' in the sound, and lots say the TS-9 sounds to nasal. I prefer the TS-9.

Hey JimmyGuitarist--I noticed your signature said "...how I wish it were Texas."

Are you a displaced Texicano or just an enthusiast?

I have used a Mesa V-Twin pre-amp for a dozen years or so to eq, boost, warm-up, or heat-up my amps ( '66 Bassman, '70 Super Showman, '81 Princeton Reverb, '63 VibroVerb Reissue, Champion 600 , + my non-Fenders). More recently I acquired a Keeley-modded BD-1 with which I am becoming acquainted. So far it feels like love.

I see you got you a Daddy-O; are you happy with the purchase? Was my description fitting?

Due to constant pedal rotations & tonal tweaks, my Daddy-O is currently on pedalboard #2, which stays in the studio at the drummer's house (he also plays guitar, keyboards and bass...so good it's sometimes irritating!). That way I don't have to drag the main pedalboard over there every time we record or jam...although the main one does get dragged around a bit!

Check out the Junkyard Screamer from musician junkyard....a handmade pedal that takes the TS-808 to a new level - gets completely rid of the shortcomings. Check out reviews on HC....I use mine with my BJ tweed NOS...AWESOME!! :D
