Can anyone help? My 57 Champ came with a oxford 6" 6EV-34 (465-715)
The cone wasnt great, couple of tears on outer cone, had a guy repair but not happy with the outcome, speaker has gone brittle on the top end, bass OK
I have managed to find a couple of oxford 6" 6FO-16 (465-531) which i believe could indicate 1955 build. The guy said they came out of a single ended 6v6 amp but had no more info than that.

Does anyone know anything about these, were they in earlier champs, is thier any links to this type of info as i cant seem to find to much on the net about oxfords especially the small ones

Wanted to know if they would perform OK in my champ or if i could pull the cone on one and repalce in the original, they look identical in all respects except for the model number.

cheers for your help

I would look into getting it re-coned. I think most really old speakers if they aren't regularly used or kept in a good environment will have some issues.

Replacement for Oxford 6EV in tweed Champs and other amps using 6" speakers
6", 16oz ceramic magnet, 15 watt, 1" voice coil, smooth cone.
Warm, crunchy, early breakup, aggressive.
Will fit in early tweed Champ (w/6" speaker).
