I have a 66 DR. Recently I have had problems with loud static from it on a gig. It goes like this, I set up for the gig and turn the amp on standby. I turn on to tune. Then I put it back on standby until we start. At some point during the first set it starts with the loud static. It sounds like it's on half-power. Then it gets to the point where you can't even walk on the stage near it without making it break up. I shut it off and run direct through the board for the remainder of the set. At the break I make sure all the tubes are seated well. I turn it back on and it works perfectly for the rest of the night and the next night as well. Next gig - same thing, noisy first set and then acts right for the next two nights. It has new power tubes and one socket has been replaced. It has a new cap on the normal channel. Any ideas? TIA.

No clue, but I'm bumping this for Billm or someone who might be able to help with this strange problem.

Thanks, Mike. I took it in to the shop and they found loose connections on the feedback resistor, reverb tank, and ground strap. Thank goodness it acted up as soon as they plugged it in.
