Just wondering if there are any owners/fans of the original blackface Vibroverb from '64 with the 15" out there?? I was fortunate enough to come into one awhile back, and it does indeed spank! Not sure I want to take it out of the house, but it is fun to play. I want to hear your takes on the amp, how you use or don't use, etc...

A number of years ago I had the pleasure of jamming through one that was owned by a friend's father. He let me plug in his '69 strat and really just jam for the night. Everything since has been a disappointment. That was probably 15 years ago easily and I'm still determined to get my hands on one of those amps.... The guitar was pretty sweet too!

I'm lucky enough to have purchased a 1964 Vibroverb "way back" in '64 and still use it to this day. I love its clean tone and genuine spring reverb. We used to play in a surf band in the 60s but just play for fun these days. My wife and I listened to Dick Dale play last evening. He's still got the magic at 72 years of age and inspired me to go home, crank the reverb, and play all the Dick Dale songs we've ever learned. This amp has that classic surf sound. This is probably the ONLY thing I've kept that long that has appreciated in value as much as it has. A superb amp in every way. Mine was kept inside all these years so it's in outstanding condition. I've replaced the original tubes and capacitors, but still have the originals which I'll keep in a box.

AHHH THE 64 VIBROVERB CLUB...and an exclusive club it is...

THE FIRST COMBO AMP WITH REVERB IN IT !!!!

I was lucky enough to buy mine back in 1970 for 250.00 Which was expensive then but now with them selling for 10 GRAND and up depending on originality I'll never let mine go or take it out of the house except for recording !!!

Ain;t life grand with a VIBRO VERB ??!!!!!

For more information regarding all the Vibroverb (the original 1963 & 1964, as well as the reissues), look up the http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vibroverb article in Wikipedia.

They guy who wrote it is brilliant :P and it gives a great overview of the history of the amplifier.
