Alright guys so i am fairly new to these forums, and i am wondering what you all think of these heads and what cabs go well with them. Recently my uncle passed away (R.I.P), and I inherited some of this music equipment. So i ended up getting this vintage fender bassman head. I dont really know much about them, because i generally dont play on fender amps (engl lover). This one has been modified from a 50 watt amp to a 100 watt amp. Sounds really clean compared to other bassmans ive heard. So if you guys would know of any cabs that would go great with this i would love to hear your opinions. Or even some general information about the amp would be great also. Here are some pics

Back when I had a 50W (late 60s, early 70s) I used the 2 X 12" cab. I was mostly playing blues/classic rock on a 6 string and that setup was great for the purpose.

However, I also used it on bass/guitar for a side project jazz trio I was in. In a small club and low volume jazz, the 2 X 12 and 50W was also a nice deep sounding bass amp.

You don't say whether you're playing bass or 6 string but you could probably use a 4 X 10 for either to good effect with 100W. On the other hand, if you're just playing bass, I might be tempted to go with a 1 X 15 with a horn.

The Bassman I had gave me a deep tone, perfect for what I was playing. However, if you're playing bass and want a more modern sound, I'd suggest something with a horn to add some punch.

thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking about using it as a guitar amp, because it seems to meet the criteria of a regular guitar tube amp. Although i might consider using it as a bass amp also. I was actually thinking about doing a 2x12 cab because i like the sound of them.

That head requires a 4 ohm cab I believe. My 1965 is 4 ohm. Just something to keep in mind. Mike

Really? That sucks. Some people tell me that it is ok to put it through an 8 ohm cab. I dont even see 4 ohm cabs that ofter these days.
