I have been playing guitar for about 7 months. I play on an '01 MIM Stratocaster. My amp is a buzzy little Squier Champ 15. After saving up money, I have decided that I will spend it on a new amp. I was thinking about getting a Roland Cube 30X or a Vox Valvetronix AD30VT. However, I recently came across a guy who wants $50 for a pre-'85 Fender Yale Reverb. It has a shortage in it somewhere, but the local guitar shop should be able to fix that cheap. Everying on the amp is stock and worked well prior to the shortage. Are these amps any good? Is it worth buying and repairing? I own a TS7 Tubescreamer, so I don't want a ton of buzzing like my Champ 15.

Thanks,
Chobey

I've never gotten to hear a Yale Reverb before, but for fifty bucks I'd get it. A quick scan of the internet says that working examples go for around $100 and up. Even if it did cost $50 to repair and you ended up not liking the sound, you could sell it one eBay and get your money back.

Thanks for the advice guys. I talked to a friend of mine, who is a walking gutiar encyclopedia, and recommended that I pass on the amp. I also paid a visit to the local guitar shop. The owner said that he could fix it for $50, but he to gave the idea a thumbs down. I have since bought a Fender Roc Pro 1000. But again, I thank you for your advice.
