Hey Folks,
Need a little help. I can't explain the "why" in detail, but I need an approximate value on my 1973 Fender Bandmaster amp head. I'm not looking to sell it or anything, I just need to know about how much it's worth. Cosmetically she's in pretty good shape...I'd give her about a 7 out of 10. She's got a minor scuff on the control plate (right under the word "Bandmaster", she's missing the original brackets to mount it to a speaker cabinet and she is quite dusty. There is some rust on the chrome parts, but no major pitting. Other than having a "purple jewel" and the missing cabinet brackets, she's all original. Functionally, the "Normal" channel works fine but she frequently blows pre-amp tubes on the "Vibrato" channel. There is some degree of static in most of the control knobs, probably due to dust. -If- I were to sell her (which again I'm not) she would certainly need new tubes as they haven't been replaced in at least 10 years, she would need the pots cleaned and she would most likely need a recap due to the pre-amp tube issue. I had purchased this amp used back around 1984 or 1985 and I have no information on the history of this amp previous to my purchase.

Here's a picture of the specific amp in question...

Again I can't explain specifically why I need this but I need an approximate "fair market value" on this amp as is in the condition as listed above. I've looked on Ebay and Craiglist and I've seen "Bandmaster Reverbs" of this era and I've seen a number of 60's era "Blackface" amps as well, but clearly this amp is not going to have the same value as those other amps do. In other words, what is the minimum that you would let this amp go for?

I have tried to be as detailed here as possible, but if you need any more info than what I've provided, please feel free to ask. I would also ask that you be as detailed as possible in your responses...if for example you think the amp is only worth $200, please state why you feel that way specifically. If you can provide any references to similar amps in similar condition, that would also be quite helpful.

Sorry to be so enigmatic about all of this but believe me when I say that it is important and that I am grateful for any assistance. Thank you!

Peace,
Jim

Ok...no big deal here now. Just to clear up what the mystery was all about, I had to start bankruptcy proceedings this weekend. My lawyer had asked me to itemize the musical equipment along with the values of each piece of equipment and the only thing I could find on value was the blackface/pre-CBS Bandmasters and/or the BM Reverb heads and I know those go for a lot more than mine would. I was able to find references to most of my other gear on Ebay or Craigslist that I was able to print out but I couldn't find anything on this specific amp here.

Either way it's cool now...we found a little loop hole that should protect most (hopefully all) of the musical equipment.

Peace,
Jim

I dunno if this will work, it works in the uk.
Sell all of your stuff to a trusted family member or friend for the token sum of $1. Even if its in your home its not legaly your possesion. Write the buyer a recipt and your untouchable.

Sound about right. I had a 73 and wish I never sold it. Sorry to hear about your financial difficulty. I hope it all turns around for you soon.
