Anyone here had the joy of playing one of these amps? With the economy as it is these amps are resurfacing and boy do they sound amazing. Big full round tones.

This is not a reissue amp avail at the moment. This was Fender's only single 12" combo made during their brown tolex production era. Two 6L6's with an output limited by the transformer to 35 watts. They came with either a 30 or 40 watt Oxford ceramic speaker. Most of the 30 watt 12L speakers were fried early in life. However many of the 40 watt 12M speakers have survived - which makes sense as they were better matched to the 6L6 power tubes peak boosts. I have a vintage 12T 45 Oxford in my amp currently and it is super tight in the bass, huge in the mids with sweet but not as pronounced highs that the black face Fenders had. If you ever get a chance to play one, do so.

Check this out, you won't see this as a standard Fender config either. Built it myself. Everything is Fender except the cab (which I built). '62-63 Tremolux combo.

Very cool KingTF! Blonde tolex and all. What Jensen speaker did you put in? The tremolux and the vibrolux are brothers (circuit wise) so the sounds are super similar. Aren't the mids amazing on the brown/blonde amps? I think they may be Leo Fender's best tone monsters.

hey blondeguitarman:

I thought you'd get a kick out of this one. This old Tremolux I picked up from an old '70's guy I know. Traded for a PC that someone gave me, go figure. I cleaned it up had to rewire some of it correctly. Put new caps in, replaced the transformer (recently). Then built the cab last summer as a project to get the thing into something useful and to look decent.

Anyway, I used all Fender hardware and materials on the cab (except their logo). I used a 12" Jensen Special (Fender). It has a great midrange tone! It get a very cool glassy sound when I plug my Strat into it. I also have a new Gibson 339 that I have played thru it. Sounds like Dicky Betts when I drive it hard.

It's just a cool looking amp. I really like the way it turned out. A lot like a Vibro yes. I also built in a removable baffle, and have different baffles you can just drop in in about 5 minutes. I have a 2-10" baffle loaded with JBL K110's (vintage JBL), and a 15" also like a Vibro.

Tadd

I have a '62 brownface Pro. Single D-130F, 15-inch JBL. Very nice tone. One of the best vibrato sections (3 X 12AX7 driven). With a presence control in the feedback circuit.

1x15" with 40W is an interesting combo.
Looks like it has more bottoms.
This one is in my watch list :x
