Hey guys! This is my first time to the forum, and I came because I figured it would be a good way to get in touch with the Fender community, and also because I had a question...

I have an old Princeton, no reverb, silver face, I dated it using the serial and its a 67. I have been thinking of getting another amp because this one doesn't quite break up as much as I'd like it to, and I'd also like something a little louder.

However, I have noticed an external speaker jack on the back of the amp, so one of the ideas I've had is to add a 2x10 cabinet to the amp and hopefully drive the tubes a bit hotter to get some more breakup, and add some more volume and presence to my sound with this amplifier.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience driving an additional cabinet with one of these amps. It's only 12 watts, and I'm unsure of whether or not it is class A (kick me for not knowing), so I'm apprehensive to look at an add on cab because I don't want to drain the tubes with no added volume.

I probably just need to bring it to a guitar shop and plug one up to check, but I figured I'd ask, because I'm sure someone somewhere has at least tried it before...

A regular Princeton is only 12 watts and you have to be careful to match the impedence of the output transformer for optimum performance.
I don't think that you will hurt the amp with the 2x10 cab but I don't think more speakers is going to give you the sound that you are after.
You may do better contacting Weber Speakers and asking them what type speaker they would recommend to get the distortion you seek.

I have a 77 Princeton reverb that's been updated and renovated, including a Deluxe Reverb output transformer. I have a 1x12 extension with it that works great. Make sure the extension cabinet is wired to 8 ohms and you'll be fine.
