I have a 1972 SF Super Reverb that the electronics and speaker are good shape.(I dated amp thru Transformers PT 606-1-25, OT 606-1-27 Ect. and ser. no. stamped on chassis A52566) Original owner had solid stated PS but I will return it to 5u4 tube(Don't notice any degradation in sound due to it but like tube better). Back to Cabinet, He had a wreck many years ago and the cabinet is cracked on one side. Will it devalue the amp to replace the cabinet?
Or should I have it repaired if possible?

Is it cracked badly where the panel needs to be replaced? The panel could be replaced, using a tongue and groove router to redo the intersecting panels. Then a new panel could be glued into place. The cab could then be recovered. Folks like Mojo Musical Supply or John at http://www.newellamps.com/ should be able to help.

It is cracked lengthwise down the right side about 4 inches from the front. The original owner had repaired it to an extent. He also had to replace the baffle mounting board on that side. He carried this thing from gig to gig from the time he bought it new till he died. My father inherited from him about seven years ago and he carried it from jamboree to jamboree in north texas. I inherited when my father passed a few weeks ago. I will get into it a little more to see if it can be repaired. There is a cabinet repair place in Abilene,Tx named Armadillo Amps that is about a two hr drive from me. One more question, where is best place to get recap kits for it?

You mignt just inject woodglue into the crack, the glue joint would be even more solid than the wood fibers themselves. Carpenter's glue, cabinet makers quality, would do a fine job. Hope it will help.

Let the music play !
