Hi Folks I am getting my hands on a 64 Fender Black Face Baseman AA864 circuit 50 Watt head. The cab though is not an original but it has 2 old celestion Greenbacks in it so I am pleased with that.

The Baseman is original except for the mains/ power transformer which was replaced with a locally <in South Africa> sourced toroidal type.

My questions of the wise men are the following:
1) In your opinion will having a non original power transformer have an audible effect on tone and the amplifier response <the output transformer is original>
2) if it is recommended that I replace it for something closer to the original are there any sites I should be directed to to start my search <obviously an International power transformer rather than a US one is required due to the different voltages in South Africa>.
3) possibly the power transformer used on the 59 baseman Reissue 4 X 10 as an option?

Thanking you in Advance

Mike
