I love the sound of a bassman combo played with a strat. I simply find other amps with to much treble, the bassman has that thickness.
Still, no reverb, no loops effects.
I was wondering if there is another amp that goes around this problem.
I heard a supersonic but it sound awfull.
Thanks

One of our local New Jersey guitar heroes, Billy Hector, plays the blues on an old Strat through an old Bassman combo, and his sound is fantastic. I don't think there is a better combination of guitar and amp.

You should be able to find pedals to give you the extra tones you are looking for.

Good Luck!

I've played/recorded my Rick, Gretsch, Strat, guitars plus Höfner, Rick, and P-Basses through my '69 Bassman 100 head/cab, and just used any reverb/echo from the board during mixdown.

If you're playing live, there are several Boss pedals to bring you close to the same thing.

I have a '66 BF 50W Bassman head with 2x12 cabinet. It sounds great with Strats or Les Pauls with single coil P90s.
I use a Line 6 multi-effects that has reverb, delay and other time f/x. It's the green colored one, but can't remember it's name off hand.

I don't consider the lack of a loop or reverb a problem. A good amp really doesn't need either. Just pure tone to the bone. :D

Surf music just wouldn't sound quite the same.

You wouldn't use a Bassman for Surf music anyway. It's got way too much grit. I was never a big Surf Music fan except for a little of Dick Dales stuff.
You can always use outboard reverb if it means a lot to you. It's all up to the individuals taste.

Hey there, If I were you I would try the Hot Rod Deville 410 and the Blues Reissue Deville 410. They have the same 410 confiuration, but they have reverb and an effects loop. They're so amazing that I wasn't even shopping for an amp, I plugged one in, and I knew it was the one for me. GREAT TONE!

I use a Vintage '72 (I think, somewhere in 70's) Bassman 50 as a bottom to my '88 Reissue of the '65 Twin Reverb....for a metal/rock band! It gets hard, crunchy tone, with a real warm low end that growls, but edges on dirt. It's like being dragged through the mud while chewing Orbit gum.
I love it, and would never trade it up
