Within the last few months, I was trying to date my amp as well. I did so with this guide:

http://www.ampwares.com/ampguide_dating_info.asp

The serial number you gave begins with one letter. The chart they supply dates with serial numbers beginning with two letter. No worries though, the second part of the page uses serial numbers on components of the amp to date the amp, such as the speaker. If your speaker is the original speaker, you should be able to get a year for your amp. I used the serial number on my speaker. Good luck, hope it helps.

That seems unlikely, I have all the old Fender catalogs from the 70's and the Super Twin does'nt appear until 1976. I wonder if it might be a prototype?

One way to trace the date of an amp, and I've done this with all of mine, is to compare all the EIA production codes from the speaker frames, and the transformers in the amp and that will narrow it down to the month and year. On rare occasions, it can even give you the week, but more often than not, it just gets you to the month and year.

From the topic, I thought this might have been about social dating. After all, who wouldn't want to date a super twin?
Afraid I can't help: I played sax in the mid-60s, and one of the guitar players had a twin reverb amp. Wonder what that would be worth today?

My Fender Twin Reverb is serial # A 20247. I did some research this morning and it's hard to tell exactly but the best I can range it is from a '67 to '68.

The pot codes can give you a date, too. The Transformer codes are the easiest to see, as long as you know that the trannys are original.

I bought a new Super Twin in 1978 and all I can remember about that muther fricker is that even at 23, I almost dropped a nut when it came time to lift that beast! The 3 girls that i played with used to scatter like somebody yelled fire when it came time putting that amimal in the truck. I also remember that the amp was quite forgettable but I think that it was one of the first amps to employ active eq and it was probably more my fault for not bonding with it. I traded it in on a Musicman 112 RD and never looked back! LOL!!!!!!!!!
