I inherited this fantastic head from my brother who gave it to me in lieu of cash for a vehicle sale. I haven't seen much information about the Concert head, most information is for combos only. Can anyone give me more info about this amplifier? It seems to be from the early 1980s. Wow, it's loud for a small venue, so I mostly use my 63 Vibroberb re-issue with the brownish/tan tolex and two Oxford 10s. At 35 watts, the Vibroverb serves me well.
What I'd like to know is if the Concert head is fairly rare since it's not a combo, and how many watts does this amp put out? It's got to be at least 60 watts or more. And any info on service would be appreciated. I think it could be a killer amp for virtually any genre of music, but seems to have been used with a variety of pedals for metal in it's former life.
Thanks so much for any and all advice and/or information... :) :) :)

I think you're referring to a Rivera-era Fender Concert Amp Head? Great amps because they have the same output transformer as the blackface Bassman.

The Rivera-era Concert was made '82-86ish, and has serial numbers beginning F2, F3 or F4 I believe.

Yes, thanks for your reply Mike, it's F317366. Is there some where I can find more information on these amplifiers?
Thanks very much,

Gary

Go to "the Fender Amp Field Guide" It's on there. I have the "Rivera era" Deluxe II and a buddy has the Super-Champ. They are great amps, much more high-gain-ish than older Fenders. They are screamers! I use an OD pedal with the clean channel so with the "Lead" channel you get 3 separate tones. Mine's a little hard to dial in when switching guitars.
Wonder how yours would sound with a Marshall cab loaded with Greenbacks! (hee-hee)
Take care of the footswitch, I've heard they're expensive to replace!
Congrats.

Thanks BIGARNOTT. Yeah, mines a Rivera era Concert II, I use a Marshall cabinet with 4 X 10 Celestions, though not the vintage Greenbacks. Maybe a VOX AC-30 is in my future? I appreciate your referral, it is a screaming amp, but in need of new caps and tubes and generally a major clean up of tube sockets and pots ( the reverb pot is noisy ). It does scream, in fact it's so loud I can only use it in big halls un-miked. Maybe instead of investing in a VOX AC-30 I'll get the Concert II head to a tech. I'm in a 60s cover band, and generally play a Rickenbacker 12 and a 70s era Les Paul through it. The only pedal I use is compression with the Ricky, and an Ibanez TS-9. They are awesome amps indeed !
Kind regards,

I had to do a cap job on mine this summer and replaced the worn power cord. I've been told that there was a speaker upgrade available and that I have the better one, but I've never run across anything to substantiate that.
Sounds like you've got it under control! Good luck!
