I owned an original, back in the day, and played it all through the "hotel circuit" in Upstate New York for years. For the stages we played on, the volume was perfect. Early in the night, when we had to keep it quiet for the dinner crowd, I could get the clean sound that I needed at sufficient volume, and later in the night, when it was ok to crank it up, I could push it and get a wonderful bluesy distortion (clean by today's standards, but a wonderful sound, with character and voice)! Nowadays, the volumes are higher, and the Deluxe might not be able to maintain that cleanliness on larger stages and bigger rooms. If that's your intention, you should consider a Twin.

All these years later, I find myself looking for that sound again for my home studio, and all the modeling boxes just don't cut it. At 22 watts, the '65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue is a maybe a little too loud for the house, but I'm seriously considering buying it anyway and annoying the neighbors, just so I can have that sound again.
