That is the exact same amp that I am searching for. It's the greatest of all time.

Hi I just bought a 68 Pro Reverb, drip edge. I haven't even received it yet. What years were the drip edge used? I believe this year still had the blackface circuit? It has had the caps replaced speakers are from the 70's and 3 prong cord added. I am a player so I see these things as good, probably saved me $300.00 in having them done myself. Any feed back would be great good or bad? :D

Back in July I had an ex-neighbor pass away and his daughter gave me his amp-a 1968 silverface Pro Reverb. She's sitting at my local music store waiting for me to pick her up after a $120 checkup and minor repairs. The biggest problem my amp had that the amp tech fixed was 29 solder joints in the workings had started working loose or weren't soldered that well to begin with. The input jacks had some corrosion and one of the tone control pots had a bad connection. Other than this everything is original-tubes,speakers,caps,pots,even the two prong outlet cord is original with the Fender logo embossed into the prong cover. I didn't think to ask the tech what my amp is worth but one of the guys that works in the store told me around $1200-1500. I'm got some 57/62 pickups to install in my 2002 Strat so when this is done all that's left is for me to learn to play my Strat so's my wife and kids won't tell me to stop choking the thing to death!

Wow you are sooo lucky to get the amp for free! The book value is $1,200-$1,500. for great condition all original. i got mine for $850. but it's a players amp. not collectors! Speakers arn't original from the 70's the leaky caps have been replaced and the two prong cord changed to a 3 prong! All stuff I would have done anyway! Probably saved me a few hundred ? Everything I have read and spoke to my amp tech these are super amps, like a deluxe reverb but a thousand dollars less! I guess people don't like the second speaker too heavy so they are still under the radar . Them me know how you like it mine should be here next week!

I found this 1970 (post drip edge) Pro Reverb at my local GC in 1999 for $299 (they were a new store and didn't realize what they had).

It's my favorite Fender amp. Classic Fender tones (including the reverb and tremolo) with enough power to gig but also capable of producing a nice overdrive at a reasonable level.

The only mods I've done are replace the electrolytics, unsolder the negative feedback loop (love those harmonics), and install a pair of '59 Jensen P12N's that a guy had parted out from Leslie cabinets on eBay.

Enjoy your amp, waya, and good luck finding a replacement for your old amp, ca-148.

hi-fi-guy104

I see you live in SC. Exactly where in SC? I'm just wondering since I live just outside of Greer towards Duncan. Thanks.
