Hey Fenderheads-

I have a 1970 Fender Vibro Champ that is in need of a new speaker. Its an 8" at 4 ohms- Online I can pick up some Jenson's for $90.00- Wondering if there is anything better-

Thank you-

Find an Oxford 8EV and you won't regret it.

I put a Weber in my BLK face Vibro-Champ and it sounds great. He had his 8" speakers on sale, so it was a steal. I've had good luck with all the Webers I've used.

Hey Fenderheads-

Thanks for all the great leads...The Webers sound like a great deal. It's just hard to find a nice 8" Speaker. I was looking at what Jensen had to offer but they just seemed so...ordinary. Since I have to change out the speaker anyway (Sounds like a hole in the cone) I thought I might as well get something above standard.

I think I gave $35 for the 8" Weber that I put in my Champ. He described it as "late breakup", which I went for as the Champ will break up enough on it's own.
I have 2 Webers (high dollar ones) in my Brown-faced Concert and I couldn't be happier with them. I've had issues with the reliability of Jensens. (That's why I'm sporting 2 Webers and 2 Jensens in my Concert.)
I was on Weber's website and they seem to have all price ranges. Check out Kendrick, too. I have a friend who's really into them.

This is what I did. I went to Triod Electronics and purchased a new Output Transformer that has a 4 Ohm and 8 Ohm tap. It costs about $24 shipped. NOW, you can use 4 or 8 Ohm speakers. It gets even better. I created a new Baffle Board for the Champ so it can take a 10 Inch Speaker. I then put in a Jensen C10Q. You can use whatever 10 inch, maybe a Weber Chicago 10 Inch or something along those lines if you prefer Alnico. This will give your Champ all new life compared to putting another 8 inch in it. I have done the Mod for a couple people and they have loved the results! I suggest giving that a whirl!
