I have a question for you amp experts. I own a Super Reverb, and I use a Gibson ES 345 Stereo guitar with it. In fact, I have owned two Super Reverbs, and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.

These two channel amps, are the channels actually independent and seperatre from each other? Using a Y chord w/my guitar I get a good sound using both channels. Some people tell me that the channels are supposed to be "out of phase" w/each other! I'm think they are talking about using two inputs of one channel. When I use my 345 into the two inputs of one channel, I get a thin sound. When seperated it sounds normal. Remember I am taking a stereo signal into two mono plugs, if your not familiar w/Gibson stereo guitars.

If I plug the Y chord into the two inputs of my Hot Rod Deluxe, I get a real thin sound and it doens't work properly.

I'm being told my guitar has been re-wired, I bought it new and it came w/a Y chord. I don't believe so, and I also don't think the two channels are out of phase with each other, which I don't really know what that means. I can use my Y chord into both channlels, connect another chord into the two the open inputs of both channels, and I get reverb into the normal, which means to me, that can feed each other a signal.

If they were out of phase, it shouldn't work that way, correct?

Any help would be appreciated. We've been having this discussion on the Gibson board for a week now.

never heard of channels being out of phase before. Why not stereo out the gibbo into the super reverb and the hotrod. That should give you a great sound. i dont think going into 2 channels on the same amp will give as good results because both channels will only be feeding one speaker or cab. Atleast running 2 amps you can place the speakers where you want, use 1 for a bassy sound and 1 for treble, or even clean and driven sides.
I've had a lot of fun running 2 jcm800's this way from a stereo tremolo pedal. Granted its not as nice as the true stereo of the 345.

Give both ways a go see which you prefer. You should get some heavenly results.
