Its a very english amp mate. they later went on to become WEM (watkins electric music) and were used by loads of people in the 50's 60's Hank marvin and jack bruce to name two. They also made the copycat tape echo unit.

Niki, is that some sort of reissue that I haven't heard about, or is it in eye-boggling good condition? There is a story behind that one, or my name ain't Charles Dickens.

mind numbingly good nick mate. The valves are all mullards too. EL84, EZ80 and a ECC83, all 60's ish era from the look of em. Could be worth the price i paid just in valves.

Now don't toy with us. Tell us the story, including who, what, where, whither, whence and why. And a side order of how much, if I may be so crude.

Please?

Cheers - C

£140 converse guitars redditch. I was after a new 6v6 for my new  vibrochamp xd. He had none so i had a nose around the amps. I was trying out a THD univalve when i saw this thing. I plugged it in, handed my tele to another guitarist in the shop whilst i played with the dials (all 2 of em) and instantly forgot about the THD amp. I asked the bloke the price when he told me 140 i sprung for it straight away. I dont know anything about em except that WEM dominaters only go for £250ish. I could of been had but the price i paid for the sound its got keeps me happy. Way i see it is, if i do have to sell it in years to come it shouldnt go down in value.
I certainly dont plan on parting with this thing though, it sounds awesome, beautifully gentle clean sound and a poweramp crunch that responds to pick attack like nothing i've heard before.

I've never heard of, or seen that amp before, but I'm here in the States. I'm sure it's very cool though. And the vibe of those old amps can't be compared. Very nice new toy to have there!

I'd love to hear that tele wail on it though.

It looks great! I haven't seen one of those before, but I recall seeing a WEM Dominator before.

Is old Charlie still alive and kickin' ?

Yeah, I was gonna say, I thought your price of £140 was a stunning bargain. £400 doesn't sound high to me, though vintage amps is definitely not a world I move in, so what do I know?

Looking at that circuitry I'm thinking even a dunce like me could understand that one. And the sound is good, right? At domestic sound levels? Then you landed a brilliant practice amp, by the looks of it.

I'm thinking about the WEM gear we played through when I was a kid. People would pay serious bucks for some of that stuff now, I believe...

Well done, Nicholas - C
