Hi All, I'm the proud owner of a 74 Bassman 10. I'm thinking about replacing the speakers (I believe they are all original) and was wondering what the thoughts were regarding 10" speakers for a Bassman 10. Thank you in advance for your advice!

i would go to ANTIQUE ELECTRONIC SUPPLY (http://www.tubesandmore.com/) ... it's where i get all of my amp replacement parts ... i happen to have a '71 BASSMAN TEN, which is my baby and looks like it is practically brand new (has the vinyl cover, and new grill cloth) ...

ANTIQUE ELECTRONIC SUPPLY has all of the JENSEN VINTAGE speakers (which is what came originally in the early FENDER amps) ... so if you want to keep the warm tube sound of your amp, go with these -- i would recommend the vintage AlNiCo (aluminum/nickel/cobalt magnet) speakers, as they give the warmest sound at low wattage, but it really depends on what you are trying to do ... these are vintage amps, not hi-power concert amps, so i can't imagine that you would be trying to change the sound to make it sound more "modern" ...

JENSEN does have a line of updated AlNiCo speakers that strives to give the best of both worlds but, again, you'd be messing with the distinctive tone of one of the great amps of all times, as follows (and these are for amps with a lot more output wattage than your BASSMAN TEN is capapable of):

Jensen® Jet Blackbird

The Blackbird is extremely warm and smooth with a very rich, fat low-end response topped with sparkling highs. It exhibits a bright, dirty grit when presented with overdrive distortion. 100 watts of Alnico power!

* 10" speaker
* 100 Watt rated power
* Alnico Magnet
* Available in 8 or 16 ohm impedance
* Only available with bell cover
