Why in the world would you want to drive a fine amp like a Twin with a cheesy Sidekick 15? Depending on how you do it you could damage the Twin. Drive the Twin with a decent distortion box. Try a Big Muff, or an English Muffin from Electro Harmonix if you want some edge that will sound good.

Yeah dude, theres alotta good distortion boxes out there for cheap. and that twin is so versatile any thing will sound good with a little tweaking. Not that I haven't lined out from a solid state to a twin a couple of times. my rehearsal amp was a '90s princeton chrs and the other guitar player in the band bought a twin and brought it to practice one night thinking I could teach him how to get it into over drive. Boy wasn't he disappionted, So I plugged into the line out of the princeton then to the twin and I must say it was the best sounding preamp and amp combination I ever heard.
Look on your S.S. for line out or preamp out. than plug into either input on the twin. you'll like it!

If you go from a line out, nothing. If you go from a speaker connection, you could do serious damage to transformers and other components. Personally, I don't like the sound of most SS amps, especially the small practice amps. You'll never know the whole potential of the Twin going that route. I wouldn't risk sacrificing a Twin for a practice amp sound. The Twin is capable of so much more. But I guess it depends on the type of sound you're looking for.

As for the cord question. If it's a cheap molded plug, you need to replace the plug. If you can unscrew the outside barrel sometimes you can re solder depending on where the break is. Sometimes you can reuse the plug if you can open the crimp.

You can try craigslist.org, then you won't have alot invested. pedals go for cheap ever day. Boss and digitech are both good. and and old processer like a digitech RP, gt 3 or gt 5 will give you lots of flavors to choose from. then you can upgrade with alittle knowledge of what your after, the twin is an excellent platform for any pre amp with alot of headroom and tone.
