Hello...

In conjunction with my previous post:

If my 1967 Fender DUAL Showman has four 6L6GC tubes biased to put out 18.5 watts each...is my amp then limited to putting out 74 watts rather than the 85 watts I am expecting?

Thanks,

RB3988

No.

18.5 watts is at idle.

Your car ( did you have one ? ) idle around 600 RPM, can you drive it a 100 miles per hour or not ?

Also keep in mind that marketed wattage is nominal.
74 watts may be all any of them ever put out, and honestly, you aren't going to hear the difference between 74 and 85 watts.

CB91710...

Thanks for the information. For some reason when I compare my two amps at the same setting on all the knobs, the 85 watt 1967 DUAL Showman into a 2x12 cab with EVM12L speakers is not anywhere close to the volume of my 40 watt 1966 Super Reverb...all stock. The Showman on "10" doesn't break up at all...the Super starts to break up at 6 and it's REAL LOUD.

Amp output power + speakers sensitivity = output DB

The type of speaker enclosure also plays a significant role. In an enclosed area, the open-back combo cab is usually perceived to be louder than a sealed bass-reflex box.
