Hoping someone could help me out here. I just purchased a ‘71 Deluxe Reverb that was hand wired by the owner of Pro Analog Effects pedal. The amp is absolutely amazing sounding. The only issue is with the reverb, it is very faint and gets quite staticy whenever I turn it up. On 10 it about as strong as a 2. I pulled the tank, which is an accutronics, and no wires were loose. I bought a brand new Fender RCA footswitch. Could the tubes be an issue? I recently read to make sure the “castle” pieces of the rca jacks are making contact with the RCA plugs on the back of the amp and will take a look at that tomorrow. Please someone give me some input here.

It's possible you have a weak driver or recovery tube in the reverb circuit. These are respectively the third and fourth tube from the RIGHT as shown on the tube chart affixed to the inside of the amp's cabinet. V3 is a 12AT7 while V4 is a 7025 (a low-noise 12AX7 may be substituted). Try swapping out those two bottles for known good tubes and see if your reverb function is restored. If not, you'll need to take the amp to a qualified tech for diagnosis and repair.

What is your number ?

Also, RCA cables could be the issue, It's happened to me. Any good home stereo cable will work

Thanks guys. I’ll give it a look. If I install new tubes in those sockets is a bias needed?

No , bias is for output power tubes only.

Okay. This is my first fender amp. I had a crate v3112 before this which was a Cathode. I’ll swap the tubes and see if that helps. If not I’ll swap the reverb tank and cables. Are accutronics ready to plug right in it is any sodering required?

I’m switching out all the pre amp tubes. I’ve got on order (5) 12ax7 JJ Tubes and one tung sol 12at7. Before I order, someone mentioned it’s okay to put a 12ax7 in place of the 12at7?

Original Deluxe Reverb Circuit use 12AT7 for Send reverb circuit and 12AX7 for Recovered circuit.
If circuit is built all original, I'll use 12AT7

First , try to reverse Reverb Tank cables, if cable are reverse, reverb will be weak.
And what about accutronic model number ?

I'm ok to help you , please answer to me.

I changed out v3,v4, and v5. Still very weak reverb. I’ll remove the reverb tank and identify which model it is. Probably end up ordering new reverb tank and rcas.

Shoot buddy sorry I didn’t see your reply. The accutronics number on the tank matches the number that was referenced above by someone. I switched the cables and still received the same weak reverb and static.

They cut a piece of cardboard and put it under the reverb tank as well. I don’t see that having an effect on the reverb though? I ordered a new tank and RCA so I hope that solves it.

The cardboard "pallet" acts as a shock damper to minimize vibrations from the cabinet which might be acoustically transmitted to the tank, at which point they'd be audible through the amp's speaker.

Don't second guess Leo......he did all the homework for us.

1. An excellent first step for troubleshooting. Reverse cables. Reverb OK? You're done. Otherwise proceed to step 2.
2. Lift amp approx. 2 inches off floor. Drop amp. Loud "splash" noise? Reverb output tube (V4) OK. No loud "splash" noise? Reverse cables again. Repeat step 2. Still no loud "splash" noise? Replace V4. Go to step 3.
3.Replace V3. Reverb working? You're done. Not working? Proceed to step 4.
4. Measure DC resistance of Reverb tranny. At this point I had hoped to find some specs for the reverb tranny, but I didn't.

Hopefully by now you get the idea.

So after just firing it up again and playing a little bit the reverb was at least fully working. It’s still very staticy depending on how loud you turn it up. Then it was followed by a constant high pitch sound. Then numerous times it made a sound almost as if you were to unplug your guitar while your amp was at low volume. When you switched the reverb off the sound went away. This has happened before to me that the reverb would pretty much fully function. The static has always been an issue though.
