1978 Vibrolux Reverb...
What size is the hole for the 6L6 tube sockets?
My tube sockets are worn out to the point my tubes fall out. I have retensioned the sockets several times and it won't help anymore.
Also anyone know where to find the best replacements?

You might try these......

https://www.mojotone.com/amp-parts/Tube ... ube-Socket

Your rectifier tube uses the same socket -- you might consider replacing it as well.

1-inch chassis hole diameter is correct for silverface and newer era Fender amps. 1-1/2 distance from mounting holes. Most earlier blackface and tweeds have 1-1/8 inch diameter holes with 1-1/2 mounting holes.

Let's see some pics when you get everything dialed in and reassembled.

I often had to re-tension socket and unless the contacts are broken it always worked very well.

For your tubes to fall, either this type of socket (in '78) is very poor quality (possible with CBS) or you do not control the way to re-tension.

Replacing socket is not an easy job. resistance or capacitors may break. It is only used at the last end

Replacing octal tube sockets is no more difficult than changing out aging filter caps.

To me changing filter cap need to desolder 2 wires.
Octal socket may use 8 wires / and chance to break resistor and capacitorand

No more difficult ?

No worries, After 41 years of use, my amp tech is gutting all the old components and replacing them with fresh new up to date parts. All will be well.

I taugh it is you who are working on the amp because you want to order amps sockets.

Your amp tech know which socket your amp need.

Often amp tech prefers to work with the parts he knows and orders and it is not necessary to make more money but so that work is easier and faster. So in the end, it can cost you less money.

My amp tech is a close friend.
I order the parts, he does the repairs. In the end he charges me nothing to do the work for me. I save him time by getting what he needs to do the repairs.
We've done it this way for over 20 years. It's a good system

IME, replacing octal sockets are a lot easier than doing 9-pin miniatures. Much less stressful, to assemble grid stopper and screen resistors first onto the tangs --- then put sockets onto chassis.
