Wow. Two very clean looking amps!

The showman is in the shop, but I'm thinking my next amp will need to be a brownface after seeing those...

Just outta curiosity, does anyone know the history behind "Under patent of AT&T and WE" portion of tube label?

Thanks!

maybe concerning the "low noise" Fender 7025 version of the 12AX7 ? Just a guess. Or, more likely, maybe AT&T and WE held the patent on the circuit that Leo modeled all of his amp circuits after. Remember, when he started out, he was doing repairs of PA equipment. Guitars and guitar amps came later.

Art, Could be... I remember reading about how he poured over RCA Receiver books and copied many of its circuitry examples. Perhaps RCA copied AT&T and WE? The odd thing is both were in the teletype and telephone business in the old days... :?:

Anyhow, thanks! Have a good one.

Thanks Art! Very interesting articles. I know that WE tubes are outstanding. I think the best home audio amp I ever heard was an Audio Note single-ended WE 2A3 mono amps (like 2-3 watts, I think). They were driving two monsterous Klipsch horn speakers. Very loud!

I once thought about building a single ended 300B guitar amp. I have a couple of 1930's made WE 300B's. But, they are so $$$ these days... I hide them with my other oddball tubes and look at them every now and then. Crazy, I know.

Kinda like this one:

Have a good one!
