Mine are all vintage and dead factory stock (with the exception of modern safety upgrades). Some have a JBL (as with my Vibroverb and Deluxe Reverb) others have vintage OEM Jensens or alnico CTS.

The pre-2006 blackface re-issues require upgrades only to render them more dependable and reliable under field conditions. If I take one out somewhere I don't want it crapping out on stage in the middle of a set.

The better speakers I install are merely a sonic enhancement of a fundamentally sound amp design.

Thanks for all your input!
I think I should keep the vintage amps and maybe sell the newer ones to replace with one or two of the smaller vintage amps before our move. They can be found over there, but at a higher price.

OK! I didn't know that. I will not use casters!

(insert "WTF" emoticon here).

Both of my Twin Reverbs are caster-equipped -- the '78 from the day it was made, retro-fitted to the '99 re-issue when I bought it in 2001.

I've *NEVER* had an issue with damaged tubes.

Vibration from hard caster is not good for tubes. Sure caster is safe if you use only at your home.

The vibration from the bed of my '76 Datsun pickup on California roads was worse than any vaster vibration.
If an amp is built properly and you are using quality tubes, it's not a problem unless you are banging it around pretty badly.
I'd wheel my Peavey Deuce 1/2 mile on the sidewalk and pavement from my house to my buddy's place and never had a problem with the tubes.

I've been at this for over fifty-seven years.

But rest assured you'll be the very first person I call when (and if) I ever have a tube failure from rolling an amp around on casters.

It's not me who invented this caster story.
Your experiences are interesting.
It will be up to Perbarak to decide :|

Put your stock in whomever you wish.

Meanwhile stay right by your phone because I'm certain that I'll be calling you any year now.

I don't like to take unnecessary risks. I think I'll get a hand truck dolly with pneumatic tires and brakes.
That way I can wheel around my roadie too.
