I would like to try a 4x10 for my 64 Tremolux. I have four 8 ohms speakers. Wiring 2 in parallel (4ohm) and the using the extension connection would be 2 ohm.... any problems with this configuration?

Theoretically, no. But remember, you're dealing with a 45 Y/O output tranny. I'd hate to see it fail the smoke test.

Arjay thanks for the feed back. So, maybe i should put in a new OT with the right taps and save the original.

A second Q for clarity, 8 ohms would be incorrect and more likely to cause harm to the amp.

Regards,
Matt

Tremolux use a 4 ohms output transformer. 8 ohms is OK .

Stratele is correct -- four ohms is optimum but there is less chance of a mis-match problem with eight ohms than with two.

As for your first question, no way would I ever tamper with a vintage piece of gear that was *NOT* broken. Better to find some 16Ω ten-inch speakers (and wire them in parallel) than to swap out a priceless original output tranny.

Or simply rewire the cab for 8 ohms. Easy-peasy.
