Loved my original (bought in 75) Princeton Reverb (tube)... until it was stolen...

Ten years later I've finally found one I like as well... no surprise it's a Princeton... This time it's a Chorus (stereo) model. Probably the best solid state amp I've ever heard... (and closest to the warmth of my old tube amp...)

It's the sound I love all over again... only this time my Toneworks pedal board can be looped between the preamp and the amps... with amazing sound...

Just the bare amp has a chorus effect thats thrilling... killer reverb that can put you in a cave deep in bowels of the earth, distortion to the point of noise and a clean output that brings out the tone of my Fender Strat, 335, or a 12 String Acoustic equally well...

The only problem is volume, it's so clean I tend to crank it a bit more than necessary without noticing how loud it really is<g>

I've used it for fun with friends in the living room, lessons with my son and his Strat (Squire) and in front of a couple hundred folks singing along... filling an auditorium with sound... You just turn the volume knob and whatever you need... it's there.

My favorite Fender that I've owned would have to be my '64 blackface Bassman, but I'm pretty intrigued by the Vibroverb. I really need to get my hands on one of them. Overall I'd have to say my '66 Ampeg B-15 Portaflex is probably my favorite, but I play guitar and bass, so its hard to pick just one favorite. I've been playing guitar through a Mesa F-50 for a while now and I'm thrilled with both channels. Nice reverb too... foot-switchable and seperate controls for both clean and dirty.

My all-time favorite is a JMJ-30 amp thru a pair of old Celestion alnico blue 12" speakers. Nothing else compares for me.

I gotta agree with Teleman. Since I got my 66 Deluxe Reverb, nothing else sounds as good. If I need more power, the sound man can pump up the PA!

A while ago I picked up a Guild Reverb Converter. It's a 1X10" tube combo with a foot-switchable spring reverb and a killer vibrato. The only control for the vibe (other than the on/off) is "speed" which sort of effects depth as well..... Anyway, my reverse 60's strat gives some pretty glassy cleans on the lower volume end and turns nice and bluesy with the volume on 4-6. Any tele I try seems to pick itself with that nice country blues tone. If I grab my Big Apple Strat and plug into an original DOD overdrive (Vol. and Drive on 10) the thing screams! I did swap out the original speaker with an Eminence I had laying around, just to preserve the original, but the stock sounded great and I still toss it in once in a while to work it out. These little tube combos seem to take to just about any pedal I throw at them. Did I mention they don't weigh a ton or take up loads of space? Comes in handy when you're a pack rat like I am.

Just wondered if anyone knew of a decent info source on these old Guild amps. I found this one used at a local Sam Ash, of all places.

I always loved my 65 bassman (purchased used in 69). I used it for lead in my main band but I also used it for bass (I had the 2 X 12 cab) in a jazz trio side project. It also worked nicely when I'd sit in on electric 6 string and bass with folkies.

Coming in 2nd: the Champ 12 I've had for years. It still has a pretty nice tone despite being seriously beat up for sitting out on the patio and doing those "blues in the night."

I have a '69 Silverface Twin Reverb, I'm not just saying it because I have one, It's because I've always wanted one. I found it in a basement of a Church for $500. I have no clue on how much it is worth.

Jcm 800 4211. Does everything to a good standard. Otherwise it would be the usuall twin, plexi and 2203 variation.
