Hi, can anyone help me figure out what year a silver face Super Reverb I just acquired was made?

The tube chart says "AB763". It has 4 original Fender-stickered speakers.

I'm just trying to figure out if it's late 60's or what?

Thanks!

Ignore the tube chart (Good Lord, this should be a stickie!).

Remove the chassis and start writing down every number you see inside. They'll be stamped on many components (trannies and pot housings) or ink-stamped on others (the chassis itself, electrolytic caps, and the speakers).

Post your findings.

Welcome to the forum.

Clear pictures of the above including under the metal cover on the underside of the amp would be helpful. Post them on a website like imgbb or imgur or flickr, and post a link to them here.

This is the longest first post delay I've seen in a while. I hope you come back and read the replies.

Thanks for "bumping" it Mud.

I miss a full-time human moderator who would actually drop in once in a while.

I'd be the last one to say Brad doesn't deserve a vacation once in a while. (Or God forbid to be sick.) But it does seem to be reasonable that he could delegate.

Regards,

I'm not finding chassis and component (pots) dates to be a reliable method. Those are the manuf dates of those items, not when the amp was produced. According to one source I found, some of those component parts could have been manuf a couple of years prior. ouquote="Retroverbial"]Ignore the tube chart (Good Lord, this should be a stickie!).

It may seem like the " longest first post delay." But consider the incorrect advice I was given in this thread.

"What year do you guys think my Ford Falcon is? What's that?? You say check the Manuf date of the Firestone tires it came with?!?"

I found an excellent vintage Fender tube amp guy who's working on it. It's all good.

Billlines, you are outclassed here and you don't know it. You're 100% wrong but with your attitude, people are going to stop bothering to tell you.

These guys didn't have to respond at all. Who do you think you are?

I find the numbers ink-stamped on the inside of the chassis next to the power transformer to be reliable because it's the week and year the chassis was assembled and wired, not the date the metal chassis was made. No, it's not the date chassis was stuffed into the cabinet, packaged and shipped, but I can pretty much promise that Fender didn't leave it sitting around for years.

Based on the information you provided, I don't see what "incorrect" advice you've received here.
Excellent, you can rely on your "Vintage Fender tube amp guy" who may charge you. The advice here is free.

Now, piss off.

No middle ground here, he's either a moron or a troll.

Let him take his POFS amp to whomever he wishes so we don't waste further time on his sorry fooking azz.

Superior Music has good chassis number information. If the OP's amp fits into this time frame. If OP is still around.
