Hi,

I have a 1972 twin reverb, that i love, and until recently it has developed a strange problem: the reverb is stuck on full, and when i turn the knob nothing happens. I usually play with the reverb set on 3-4 and occasionally on full blast, so its a bit frustrating to not be able to adjust the thing. Has anyone here had this problem? Any obvious solutions/tricks/tips before i just take it to my tech? Any help would be much appreciated, because i can't seem to find any other delineation of this amp malady online (i know..a little hyperbolic, but i really like this amp!)

thanks.

Do you have spare tubes to try in reverb driver (V3, 12AT7) and recovery positions (V4, 12AX7)? I'd rule out bad tubes, bad cables to-&-from tank, dirty contacts (sockets and RCA jacks/plugs), and dirty pots.

Tell us how it goes. Good luck!

My guess is that the reverb pot is shot.

My guess is a broken solder joint on the wire from the pot to the ground plane. Tug on the wire. It may not look broken.

All excellent suggestions.

Mine would be to make sure the nut that attaches the reverb pot to the chassis is tight.

Once again it's all about "pot".
