market drives everything ... see my reponse back to the guy re: 1970's BASSMAN ... in austin, TX (a real guitar town) these amps go for $800-$1000 and more, depending on condition and if it's original ... but around here (where i live now) no one even knows what a BASSMAN 10 (4x10 combo) is ... so i wouldn't get nearly that much for it ... best thing to do is to set up a SEARCH in ebay for these amps and then watch the auctions to see what they are going for in the open market (not just what people are wanting for them, but what they are actually selling for) ...

i paid $500 on ebay for mine (in great shape, with a vinyl cover, BLACKFACE bias upgrades, new OEM grill cloth), which was a GREAT deal in my opinion ... but i shopped a long time ... they were going for more (most in the $700-$800 range) ... but i will NEVER sell mine ... i had one back in a band back in the 70's and KICKED MYSELF for years for having sold it (needed the cash, but was seriously considering starvation instead) ...

sorry, i saw BASSMAN 4X10 combo and didn't catch that it was a 1955 (open back) model ... my '71 version (the BASSMAN 10) has a sealed back with a ported cab -- very different (in some good & bad ways), but i like it better for the versatility and ability to contain/direct the sound either on stage or in a small studio without the "wash" that comes out of the back of an open cab) ...

anyway, a true '55 (not a reissue) that is 90% mint should have much higher open market value ... but as mentioned, watch the auctions for similar amps on ebay and that will tell you what the REAL market is ... if you only want to sell it locally, then you will have to go down to a good used/vintage music shop (NOT a pawn shop!), but beware -- if the shop sells on consignment, they are gonna tend to talk it up and be overly "optimistic" to get u2 list with them and then you may be sadly disappointed when you have to keep lowering the price to sell it and the shop takes its cut (percentage) on top ...

I looked on ebay, and late 50's models with some wear on them are being sold for around $15,000.

...Yours could be worth more or less, depending on overall condition and originality.
