"Better" is a relative term. Better = longer life? Prolly not. OD last forever. Better = closer to original Fender tone, for the Twin Reverb? IME, yes.

Prolly best, to wait for OP's response. Hopefully, he is still looking at this thread.

I mean better like better tone than orange drop.

Longer life; all caps have a long life
What is a long life :?

Sorry Stratele, have to disagree with all caps last a long time. Paper-in-oil (even brand new production, high $$$ items) have given me troubles. Leaking DC voltage within a few years. In guitar amps, hi-fi amps, and in guitars. Only sealed types, like PIO Russian mil spec metal cans seem to last.

I'm sure you mean sealed polyester or polypropylene coupling caps --- which what I only use, these day. Along with those CCCP K40Y-9 PIO sealed caps.

Anyhow, sorry to OP for driving off topic. :)

Yes I'm talking about those "cheap" caps. I'm sorry to hear some high end and expensive caps have a short life

To the OP, how do you like the present tone?

I think the OP answered that in his initial post......

"This amp doesn't sound bad, but it doesn't sound like a Twin should."

Are those 40-watt "guaranteed for life" Radio Shack speakers I see?

If so, that may be part (or all) of your problem.

Arjay

Look close to WGS speakers or I'm wrong ?
