Hi there, I have a question, I have been trying to buy a Super Six amp for some time, but they are impossible to find here in Mexico just recently I came across a Quad reverb for sale and I was told that the circuit or chassis are the same as the Super Six being the only difference 4 speakers on the quad, but they are the same amp, its that truth ? I found no info on the internet so I hope you can help me out, thanx a lot in advanced

Quads and Super Sixes are Twin Reverb electronics with different cabs/speakers.

The Dual Showman head is also Twin Reverb electronics, just without any speakers. Get a 212 cab, a 412 cab, and a 610 cab and you'll have the sounds of all three amps.
-----------------
610's don't sound exactly the same as 412's or 212's. So if you really want the sound of a Quad Reverb, the Super Six Reverb may not satisfy you.

Might be better off having a 412 cab built and putting a Twin Reverb amp in it. Or adding a 212 ext cab to a Twin Reverb.

Correct. The 1 x 15 Vibrosonic Reverb also shares this chassis though its output tranny is designed for an 8-ohm load.

The Super Six Reverb is an absolute beast to load and transport (world's first and only crew-served combo amp!) and separating the amp and speakers makes eminent sense unless you have a couple of roadies in your employ. The Quad Reverb is similarly afflicted though to a lesser degree.

But if I had a big living room or a big studio where I could park one and never move it, and I wanted a clean amp that was even richer and fuller sounding than a Twin Reverb, I'd love to have a Quad or a Six.

Here in the States they usually sell for less than similar-age Twin Reverbs. Even though they're much more rare, nobody wants to move those behemoths.

Imagine a Quad loaded with D120F's, SRO'S, or EVM's...

I can't imagine how much air this monster must move. My TR easily gets the 2x4's moving in my living room. Great for getting dust off hard to reach places.

:)

I'm sure there are other factors, but theoretically, the net result of adding another 4 speakers to your amp would be an increase in the overall volume of about 12db, right?

The Super Six Reverb doesn't seem to have an assigned circuit revision but the model designation you want is CFA7106. This is the 100-watt chassis with master volume and pull-boost switch. The equivalent Quad Reverb model is CFA7104 while the Dual Showman Reverb is TFL5000D. Following these models was the 135-watt ultra-linear chassis, used for all of these amps plus the Twin Reverb. The AC568, AA769, and AA270 silverface circuits should be avoided because their outputs are deliberately limited to about 65 watts due to significantly lower plate voltages for the power tubes (405 VDC vs 470 VDC). These amps can be upgraded to full output specs but it takes a skilled hand to do.

Well there is one for sale on Reverb...of course it is "Local Pickup Only" so if you have a pickup truck appropriately set up for heavy loads and near Burbank CA...this might just be for you!
