Ordered some capacitors and now waiting. After I get it squared away, me thinks I will borrow a speaker from my SR, as I just don't use it that much anyway, while I am looking around for a permit one for the PR Image

Next time you're at Ace Hardware, pick up some 8-32 kep nuts and square away that speaker installation. Grab a few extras for that proverbial "rainy day".

+1

When they got rid of the crank and pour peanut dispenser I started coming home with a pocket full of those nuts instead. Paid in full of course.

LMFAO!

Ours sells various types of organic honey and locally-made salsa (the latter thermonuclear with a 1.3 kiloton yield).

Those kep nuts are the same size as used for Fender's chassis straps so having a few on hand makes good sense.

Vinyl, That is very kind of you, but for now I think I will leave the 2 socket receptacle as I never use it as a receptacle anyway, I usually put a plastic child proof cap over it after I have added a grounding-type plug, and take the ground switch and death cap out of the circuit. And yes electrolytic capacitors need to be ordered

Mud,
Sweet! I would replace all the "lytic caps and do a three prong power plug conversion. I have an extra Amphenol 3 prong accessory outlet that I would be happy to contribute if you're interested. Just pm me. I'm extending this offer because of your excellent post about bucking transformer. You pay shipping, nothing else. Thanks.

50 year old electrolytic capacitors are probably "drier than the Sahara desert", to coin a phrase from BMW2002I, which includes the cathode bypass caps. I would replace them.

Better coil and transformer, from the pictures.

Nice score.
Vinyl

Again thanks all Now I will wait for parts and of course the main thing TIME.

Patience is the key, You have a great score for a good price. First thing is to get it operational, then make it yours as far as sound and options. (Bias adjust or standby switch in the ground switch hole, easily reversible if necessary.)

This morning I saw your post and had to revisit all the speaker fasteners on my SR, I discovered all but one stud had the original hardware on themImageall the others had thisImage. Than I looked at the PR and they all had the star lock washer and hex nut, so I suspect that was what they used in the day.
Yes Kep nuts are definetly more convenient. Any thought on should I wipe the studs with a little 3 in 1 oil or is there a better solution for the rust

Ideally, rusty hardware should be replaced but removing speaker studs from a baffle board with the grill cloth in place is generally problematic. In such cases, some 3 in 1 oil or WD40 carefully applied with a Q-tip may be preferred for surface rust removal.

Fender *never* used a separate nut and star washer to mount speakers, at least not during the blackface/silverface era. Get yourself some kep nuts.

Yes I feel patience is the key, I am now waiting for my order of electrolytic capacitor to get here before I even plug it in. I feel I want to change the filter cap, the bias cap, put in the grounded plug, remove the death cap, than start it up and go from there. The bias adjust seem like the way to go, after I get it up and running I will order a Linear 10k pot

Yeah I didn't want to remove the studs so I will go with a dab on a Q Tip

Thank for this info I guess the previous owners of both amps must have changed them out at some point, for what ever reason.
