So I just got this vintage fender Princeton that someone “refinished” with black spray paint. I’ve read a lot of different posts about taking paint off of the grill and tolex, but I haven’t come across any advice about removing it from the chassis. There’s overspray on the back of the chassis that covers some of the words. Does anyone know how to remove the spray paint without damaging the words underneath?

Thanks!

Try some mild lacquer reducer or mineral spirits applied lightly with a soft rag. Use a Q-tip for difficult areas such as around tube sockets, trannies, rubber grommets and the like. Do not use any abrasives as the grit poses a hazard to pots and other components and will also damage the chassis plating. Allow the chassis to dry *thoroughly* before powering the amp up.
